OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Chess Center’s 2026 Club Rapid Championship takes place on Memorial Day with a $650 guaranteed prize fund. It is followed by the Club Blitz Championship, bringing the total prize fund for the day to $1,500.

REQUIREMENTS

Participants must be members of the US Chess Federation
RAPID FORMAT

$650 Guaranteed Prize Fund

Time Control: G/10; inc/5 - 10 mins per player with a 5 second increment

1 open section with class prizes

Live US Chess Regular Ratings used for pairings and prizes

US Chess Quick Rated and FIDE Rapid Rated
RAPID SCHEDULE

Rapid Registration closes 10:15am.

Rounds: 10:30am, 11:15am, 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm.

Short break between Rapid and Blitz: 2:00-3:00pm.
RAPID PRIZES

Top Under 1800: $50
Top Under 1500: $50
Top Under 1200 or Unrated: $50
Plaque and Club Champion Title to 1st place, on cumulative and "average rating cut one" tiebreak if necessary.
Bonus Prizes (can be won in addition to above prizes):
Top Female: $50
Top Senior (50+): $50

Players rated 2200+: Free entry ($35 deduction from prize per event - no deduction for GMs, IMs, USCF 2400+)
CCC Members: $35.00
Non-Members: $40.00

Refunds – all withdrawals by May 24 will be refunded minus a $10 transaction fee. 50% refunds after May 24 until 1 hour before round 1.

Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment).

USCF-rated and FIDE-rated.

Live US Chess ratings used for pairings and prizes.

CCC Rapid Club Champion title awarded to first place (co-champions if tied).

Plaque to first place in each event, based on US Chess cumulative tiebreak and "average opposition rating, drop one" tiebreak if necessary.
