OVERVIEW

Fort Mill Rapids is a chess tournament designed to help students experience the excitement of competitive play. The event features one rated section and two unrated sections, making it a perfect opportunity for players of all skill levels to participate. Open to all PK–8 students, this tournament offers a fun and educational environment to sharpen skills and build confidence in tournament chess.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be in Pre K - 8th Grade (ages 13 and under)
  • Limited to first 36 to register.
  • Online registration only.
  • Registration closes 30 minutes prior to round 1 if not already full.
  • Rated Section requires US Chess membership.
  • Unrated Sections do not require any memberships.
  • Drop off, pick up

Round 1: 10:00 am
Round 2: 10:40 am
Round 3: 11:20 am
Round 4: 12:00 pm
 
Awards: ~12:30pm

FORMAT

  • 4 Games; Non-elimination
  • Time Control: G/10; inc/5
    • 10 minutes per player, plus a 5 second increment/bonus per move.

Trophies to Top 3 per section

  • All Sections
    • 2 byes permitted, byes should only be selected for rounds you wish to skip.
    • USCF standard tiebreaks used (in case of ties)
    • Only players grades PK-8 eligible to participate.
    • Rated players must be play in rated section
  • Rated Section 
    • US Chess membership required
    • USCF live regular ratings used for pairings
    • Event is USCF "quick" rated
  • Refunds 
    • Manage your enrollment through CCC Portal
    • $5 penalty prior to event; no refund after event begins
